Trains as a Sensor: Real-time Vision AI System in Ruggedized Environments (S72653)
Date: Wednesday, March 18
Time: 2:00pm
Location: Hilton Almaden 1 (L1)
Speakers: Nadia Mazzino, VP of Rail Asset Management (Hitachi Rail); Stefanie Grois, Sr. Solution Architect (Nvidia); Roslyn Stuart, (Hitachi Digital)
Session Detail: Improving the energy efficiency and maintainability of trains is essential for ensuring that public transportation services remain cost-effective, and therefore widely adopted. Deploying AI-based applications with real-time, or close to real-time, latency constraints and high throughput requirements remains challenging on constrained resources and partially air-gapped embedded platforms. Dive deep into how we combined synthetic data generation and neural architecture search to develop AIs that can detect rare but critical events, such as overhead defects, that are typically underrepresented even in petabytes of video data gathered over time. By using YOLO-NAS on NVIDIA DGX, we can improve the throughput of existing models by 4X. Using IGX Orin as inference platform provides real-time capabilities and enough compute power to run several vision AI and sensor use cases in parallel. With this powerful set of technologies, we can drive the vision of “trains as a sensor.” Learn about Hitachi Rail's experience in deploying real-time use cases for pantograph fault detection, train geolocalization, and rail obstruction detection, leveraging NVIDIA IGX platform and software frameworks including Holoscan and Metropolis. This in-train solution was developed in five months and reduced their fault-detection time from 10 days to 10 milliseconds, giving them greater operational agility and efficiency.
Unlocking Next-Level Efficiency with Accelerated Computing and Optimized Solvers (Presented by Hitachi Digital) [EXS74248]
Date: Wednesday, March 19
Time: 3:00pm
Location: SJCC Hall 3 Theater (L2)
Speaker: Raashi Khanduri, VP, NVIDIA Center of Excellence, Hitachi Digital
Session Detail: Using accelerated computing and parallel processing, CUDA Solvers stand out as the game-changing computational power provider necessary to handle massive datasets and iterative problem-solving with unmatched speed and precision. This capability enables industries to perform large-scale simulations and analytics efficiently, driving smarter decision-making and unlocking new opportunities for optimization across industries. This session explores how CUDA-accelerated solvers are delivering transformative results across various sectors. Using NVIDIA’s accelerated computing capabilities, Hitachi and NVIDIA are leveraging CUDA-driven solutions for innovation solutions to real-world industrial problems
Manifesting Physical AI in Industrial Applications
Date: On Demand
Speakers: Frank Antonysamy (Hitachi Digital); Jason Hardy (Hitachi Vantara); Koji Agatsuma (Hitachi Rail) Moderated by Irfan Ali, NVIDIA
Session Detail: The pace of industrial transformation is faster than ever, driven by the adoption of AI, IoT, and robotics. Hitachi is collaborating with NVIDIA on industrial and physical AI solutions – such as for energy grid network optimization, predictive maintenance for trains, quality inspection in manufacturing, and more. In combination with AI factories, we are deploying Accelerated Computing in edge systems, ushering in an era of Infrastructure-as-a-Robot, where entire infrastructure systems can operate autonomously. In this session, we will share Hitachi's approach to engineering outcomes.
